July 19, 2012 update. My coat is finished, and I’m posing for a few pictures, as I picked it up at Forestburg airport. This is a hand-made custom winter overcoat, by Duanne Jahns Couture. Great Job Duanne, it’s outstanding.

May 8, 2012 update. Another fitting.
May 3, 2012. I flew down to Forestburg, Alberta for a first fitting, of a custom-made winter overcoat, being made for me by Duanne Jahns. In these pictures, the pieces of the coat, like the collars and the sleeves, are just pinned in place to judge their length. More sewing and finishing will ensue. ( Me, being short and stout, could never find a coat of this calibre that would fit me, off-the-rack.)

More about this coat: I’m told that once it is all sewn together, it won’t appear to be as bulky. Also, I was testing it by wearing it over my thickest sportjacket. After the double=breasted buttons are added, and the fur collar is given proper shape, and other features get finished, like the epaulettes on the shoulders, it should look much better.
Duanne also made the hat from the same fur. I walk an hour at lunch every day, outdoors in a park. From November through April, I need an overcoat.
