Pictures are not in order, just randomly interesting from my recent flight from Camrose to Hudson island for the long weekend. First shown, is a picture of the huge mine west of Kamloops. (Highland Valley Mines.)
View from over Gibsons BC, showing the Georgia Straight and Vancouver in the far distance.
Some logging along the BC coast, south of Squamish.
Expensive refueling in Kamloops. Normally I’d fill up elsewhere, but full bladders needed attention here.
My plane in Kamloops, viewed from a long distance through binoculars.
Now for some glitches. My push-to-talk button in the left seat, sometimes doesn’t work at the beginning of the flight, then miraculously works later on.
My autopilot’s vertical speed adjustment knob got its stem stuck, and I broke its twisty plastic knob.
I solved a problem, using a coat hangar. Here’s how I’ve kept my headphone cords from being sat upon while entering the aircraft.
Some pictures from over the mountains.
My daughter and I did some archery.
Also, when I tried to leave Hudson Island, my airplane wouldn’t start, and I quickly drained the battery. But I had anticipated this, and on an earlier flight, I had brought a ‘Start Pac portable starting unit 28V’ from Aircraft Spruce Canada. (I paid an outragous $2766.00 CAD for it, but it gives me peace of mind on the Island, in case I ever accidentally leave a switch turned on overnight.) It sure saved my bacon on this trip.
( Upon my return to Camrose, I ordered a new replacement battery for my airplane. I think it has been compromised by having a few previous episodes of being deeply discharged and needing a boost.)
Oct 22, 2012 update. I got a new knob made for my autopilot, at the local metal machining shop. Voila:
