From a TV show about building treehouses, I’ve taken a few photos showing some good metalwork.
For a better link to the Treehouse building show methods.
This support for a steel beam, allows the tree to sway in 2 directions.
Using Steel for stairs and support beams is essential. Wood stairs rot in 10 years.
Here’s their drill bit.
Two-handed drill. That looks powerful.
Skinny hole first, then a wider hole. The wide hole gives plenty of surface area for supporting weight.
Into the hole they insert a “TAB” Treehouse Attachment Bolt.
A different view of drilling. Notice the screws nearby, for visual reference to keep straight and level.
Where a LOT of weight is anticipated, look at how thick the TAB is.
The Nelson Treehouse and Supply company, made this nice video showing the process of making a first platform. Near the end is the “rigging” of ropes and pulleys to lift heavy things.
