Surfing Tofino BC

August 23, 2015 By Steven Halls

I flew into Tofino to pick my family. Deanna was doing surfing school, and Jenny enjoyed the town, hotel and restaurants. Here are some amazing photographs of the beaches, waves, surfers and town. Let’s start with Long Beach, and the airport in the distance.

Next will be other beaches with lots of surfers.

Hey, my camera can sort-of zoom in on a surfer, from an airplane!

Surfing school, I think. Probably learning how to jump up quickly on a board.

These waves look good sized, for fun!

Closer to town, a different smaller beach, smaller waves.

And another calmer, beautiful beach.

And another, with hotels. This one is not getting big waves.

And after all that flying around the beaches and town, here’s the Tofino airport.

The light green building is the terminal. (and self-serve fuel for airplanes!)

IF, just saying IF.. a person flew in, parked their airplane and walked to this edge of the airport, they would need to scamper down somehow, quite a significant drop, you could get to Long Beach. Climbing back up would be harder. I’m curious to know if this is possible… fly in and use the beach.

I think there might be a path.
