A troublesome stump, Poof, GONE. Yay, forestry mulching machine.
More pictures from the island, as tangled brush and fallen logs, turn to soil.

Today I received in the mail, this nice batch of blacksmithing tongs, found on Kijiji. I got quite a good variety, so the only think I am lacking now are some tongs for holding square stock. ( It’s rare to see so many sets of tongs for sale in one batch.)
And this gave me an opportunity to take photos of the region of my hangar where Roger has set up a nice metal fabrication shop.

Twas beautiful weather. We took a pleasure flight to see Desolation Sound and Discovery Islands. This is where yachts go. So, lots of pictures in random order. Some would be great background pictures. (I was supposed to go see polar bears this weekend, but the weather in Manitoba was too poor, so I went to BC instead.)

July 24, 2015 update. I never did make it there. In 2014, I tried but cancelled the flight before the weekend. Hudson’s bay will have to wait. In 2015, I decided to go to Germany to Oktoberfest in Berlin. Maybe in 2016 I will find a way to get there. I truly want to see Hudson’s bay, (and bears).
Oct 24, 2013 update. Due to bad weather in Manitoba, we went to BC instead. Will try Manitoba in November.
Sept 25, 2013. I’m starting to plan my October 12-14, 2013 trip to Churchill, Manitoba, on the shore of Hudsons Bay, to see polar bears. This post will accumulate my notes on the upcoming trip.
The total distance (720 Nautical miles) is slightly too far for my fuel capacity, and I can’t refuel in Churchill anyway. So I plan to make 1 or 2 stops. One stop at La Ronge (to stretch legs, use bathroom and look around) and on stop at Lynn Lake (definitely need to refuel here).
So far, I have 2 empty seats, and I’m hoping for some company for the trip.

It was a nice direction of light, as we flew past Hudson Island prior to landing. My friend Daryl took these wonderful pictures, which I’m having printed as gifts to my neighbors on the island. Just 3 nice pictures.

I bought a used little Rayco forestry mulcher, and a nearly-worthless used Galion RT10 crane.
Why? The mulcher will clear tangled 5 acres of undeveloped overgrown bush on some BC coastal land I own. The crane will create the ability to haul boats, logs and heavy building materials, from ocean onto the land.

A panorama pieced together near the north edge of Lot 2. Orange flags are suspended on a line between trees, that is 50 feet from the property line.

I had a quick weekend trip to the island, and brought back a few pictures, that I haven’t had time to organize yet. First, I’ve stitched together a panorama of some of the cleared paths. Somewhere, somehow, and slowly sometime, I’m making plans to build house with workshop, landscaping and supervillian infrastructure.
Viewing toward South
All stitched together

Theoretically, having a crane on Hudson Island, that could lift my boats out of the water, onto land, and could be the safest way to keep boats there, year round, even when terrible storms happen. Lot 2 has a place where the rock cliff has no beach below it, even at low tide, so boats could come close enough.
